The Miss Placentia Yorba Linda Scholarship competition started the Princess Program (now called PYL Girls) in 2007, and some of those Little Sisters have gone on to win the title of Miss Placentia and Miss Yorba Linda!
PYL Girls is a part of the Miss America’s Little Sisters Mentoring Program which introduces young ladies, ages five through twelve to the Miss Placentia Yorba Linda and Miss America Organization before they reach competition age. This program helps young ladies understand that Miss America is not just a dream, but something they can begin preparing for at a young age. It allows them to work closely with Miss Placentia Yorba Linda delegates who serve as role models and mentors through appearances, volunteer events, and service within their community and state. A few of our PYL Girls have advanced to become California Sunshine Girls and even Miss America Little Sisters!
The PYL Girls Program introduces girls to a non-competitive fun-filled experience they will remember for the rest of their lives. Our PYL Girls spend time with our Miss Placentia Yorba Linda delegates, and together they build special friendships at events such as our introductory pizza party, a special tea and crafts party, and rehearsals.
Each participant will receive a tiara, sash, t-shirt, and one ticket to the competition. She will also participate in a special etiquette class taught by the reigning Miss Placentia. Miss Yorba Linda, and Miss Canyon Hills. One of the spectacular components to the program is the dance routine they learn and perform onstage on the night of the Miss Placentia Yorba Linda competition.
